A Real Treasure
As has been reported over the course of the last several days and weeks, the City of San Francisco has reached an agreement to purchase Treasure Island. The master plan is spectacular to say the least. Some highlights:
A 21st century community with social and economic diversity
3 distinct compact neighborhoods centered around a 275-acre park
6,000 new homes created through public and private financing, 30% would be “affordable”
The ability to house 13,500 residents
A mix of high rises (14 stories), flats, townhouses and single family houses
The development partners are Wilson Meany Sullivan, Lennar Corporation and Kenwood Investments. Work could begin as early as 2011 with the first residences ready for occupancy in 2013 and total completion in 2022.
A true TREASURE Island. |

Dear Santa, Bring Me a Castle |
In 2005, the Albion Castle located in Hunters Point was put up for sale and auctioned to the highest bidder for just over $2 Million. The new owner of 881 Innes Avenue intended to restore the castle and convert it into a restaurant, while also restoring the Albion Brewery.
The castle itself is an incredible property and contains an underground spring which provides up to 10,000 gallons of water each day (bottled water? Pool PARTY!). The castle has been extensively restored and is now on the market for $2,950,000 or $2,054 per square foot – clearly a record for the neighborhood.
A little web research shows how the neighborhood surrounding this castle has changed over the years. A castle for the holidays? Now that’s one to add to your wish list! |

Light up Your Holidays |
 |
Nothing says “holiday season” more than our great city sparkling with holiday lights. Whether heading into San Francisco across the Bay Bridge and seeing the magnificently outlined Embarcadero Center buildings or admiring the bedecked homes in St. Francis Wood, our city is at it’s best during this fine and fun season. Here’s a great way to see all that sparkles in San Francisco:
San Francisco Cable Car Holiday Lights Tour
Hop aboard a motorized San Francisco cable car in Fisherman’s Wharf or Union Square and prepare for a 90+ minute tour of all that shimmers. This trip travels through Fisherman’s Wharf, Ghiradelli Square, the Pacific Heights mansions, Jackson Street, the Fairmont Hotel, Polk Street shops and restaurants, the Van Ness corridor, Union Square, Chinatown, Embarcadero Center and more. Great views across the Bay to the lights of Tiburon and the Golden Gate Bridge as well.
Everyone gets a Santa hat too! A great trip for your out of town visitors or long time residents who want to celebrate the season. |
