New Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule in Effect April 22, 2010

If you own a pre-1978 home, here is new legislation which may impact your next renovation project.

As provided by SFAR:

The Federal Lead-Based Paint Renovation Rule (Lead Renovation Rule) became effective on April 22, 2010. The rule affects construction contractors, residential landlords, property managers and others who perform renovation work for compensation in housing that may contain lead-based paint (i.e., housing built before 1978).

The California Association of REALTORS® has prepared two documents which provide detailed information on the Lead Renovation Rule. They may be viewed by clicking on the links below:
